Central Bohemia Golf Guide

Central Bohemia is the region that wraps around Prague, which means you can play championship golf in the morning and be standing on the Charles Bridge with a pilsner by sunset. The headliner is Albatross Golf Resort, a Keith Preston design on the edge of the Bohemian Karst that has hosted the D+D Real Czech Masters on the European Tour since 2014 and is regularly ranked the number one course in the Czech Republic. It stretches to more than 7,500 yards from the tips, making it one of the longest courses the Tour visits, and it sits just twenty minutes from the Prague airport. Golf Resort Karlstejn gives you 27 holes played beneath the most famous castle in the country, the fourteenth century fortress built by Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, and it is hard to think of a better backdrop for a three-putt. Golf Resort Konopiste, the largest golf resort in the country with two 18-hole courses and on-site lodging, sits near the chateau where Archduke Franz Ferdinand lived before his date with history in Sarajevo.

The off-course case makes itself. Prague is one of the great cities of Europe, Kutna Hora offers a UNESCO-listed old town and the famously macabre bone church at Sedlec, and this is the country that invented pilsner and still drinks more beer per capita than anywhere on earth. Green fees run well below Western European rates, the season stretches roughly April through October, and your non-golfing travel partner will never once ask what they are supposed to do all day.
