Grand Forks Golf Guide

As tourist destinations go, Grand Forks is no Orlando, Florida or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but it does have attractions that will keep business travelers occupied when not in meetings or playing golf. In a hockey-mad region, visitors who can distinguish a puck from a biscuit should take in a Fighting Sioux hockey game in the Ralph Englestad Arena, a complex that locals swear is as impressive as many pro facilities. Tours of the arena are given on non-event days.

The University of North Dakota campus provides an excellent place to take a stroll, as do Memorial Park and the Japanese Gardens. Although not large, the North Dakota Museum of Art mounts impressive exhibits, and travelers with a fondness for the fine arts should enjoy their visits.

The city of Grand Forks is home to one military golf course, one private course and two public nine-hole courses. In nearby Manvel, Manvel Golf Course offers another nine holes, and the cities of Larimore and Northwood are home to semi-private courses. In Grand Forks, Lincoln Park Golf Course and Ray Richards Golf Course are serviceable nine-hole munis, and active military or veterans may want to play Plainsview Golf Course, a nine holer that plays 3,340 yards from the tips. If visitors happen to know a member, Grand Forks Country Club is the course to play in town.
