Hua Hin Golf Guide

Hua Hin is where Thai golf started. The royal seaside town about three hours south of Bangkok has been home to Royal Hua Hin Golf Course since the 1920s, and a century later it has grown into the best pure golf destination in the country. The modern anchor is Black Mountain Golf Club, a 27-hole Phil Ryan design set against black granite hills that has hosted Asian Tour and European Tour events and landed on Golf Digest's list of the top 100 courses outside the United States. Down the road, Pineapple Valley Golf Club, the course formerly known as Banyan, was named Thailand's best golf club in 2023 and finishes with a rooftop bar at Mulligan's Pub that might be the best 19th hole in the country. Add Springfield Royal Country Club, a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus design that has hosted the Thailand Open, and you have a rotation that justifies a full week.

Off the course, Hua Hin plays like the Thai Riviera without the hard sell. Long beaches, night markets like Cicada, seafood pulled from the Gulf that morning, and a laid-back royal-town pace that makes it the easiest place in Thailand to unwind between rounds. Prime season runs November through March, and the caddies here are as good as anywhere in Asia.
